Announcement Time... We Got a Couple Here

So it looks like I can finally announce this officially. My new graphic novel, In The Fallout, will be published by 215 Ink. It features the artwork by the amazingly talented Jeff Chin and is probably going to be coming out in late 2012.More info as soon as I’ve got it!

In other news, I've made the long list of nominees for the Eagle Awards. Both for Best New Writer and Best Graphic Novel for Brian & Bobbi. Voting is open to the public, so anyone that might be inclined can just click on the picture below to cast their vote.

And lastly, just cause I think they're awesome. We've released a few Minimalist posters to promote GCD, which it's looking like will be available for pre-order some time this Summer. So I'll be sure to keep you all posted on that.

I know it's been a few months since Brian & Bobbi sold out from most comic shops. But for those of you that missed out on getting a copy, I have good news. My publisher has worked out an exclusive deal with Liber Distro to help retailers get Brain & Bobbi back in stores.

Now I've been sitting on this new project for a while, not really mentioning it, but with New York Comic Con right around the bend it seems only appropriate that I finally announce it. Plus when a cover this great shows up in your inbox, it's hard not to want to show it off immediately.

This is my brand new All-Ages title called Benjamin and the Fish about the adventures of ferret named Benjamin and his best friend - a tuxedo clad stuffed mouse named Mr. Fish. I'll be working with the amazingly talented Alex Schumacher who will be handling the majority of the art for the project, but I'll also be bringing in some special guest artists throughout the run of the series. This cover for example was done by one of the best up and coming comic artists I've seen in a while, Matt Lynch. Expect more from him, cause I'll probably try to rope him into as many guest appearances as he can fit into his schedule.

Benjamin and the Fish will be published by 215 Ink. And while it's a bit too early to announce it's official release date, we will be doing a special edition preview of the series for New York Comic Con next month. So for those of you coming to the convention (particularly those of you with kids) be sure to stop on by and check it my first All-Ages title.

A Moment to Catch up...

So it's been over a month since my last post. Crazy to think that June has already come and gone. And as much as I promise myself I'm going to get better about updating this page, every time I turn around another month has disappeared and I haven't posted a thing.

So how about we play catch up?

GCD is coming along great. Not too long ago, over at the GCD Music Blog, we got to premier the amazing cover James Boulton did for volume 1. It'll be called "God Save the King", and you'll have to pick it up to find out why.

That's not the only announcement I've gotten to make recently though. On top of GCD I'll also be working on another project for 215 Ink, editing a short story anthology coming out in 2012. They just opened up submissions, and if there are any creators out I highly recommend throwing your hat in the race. If what I've seen so far is any indication, this is going to be one amazing collection.

And yes I am working on a story for the anthology as well. I'm teaming up again with the super talented Luke Pickett who you may remember from my story Cursed way back in the day. But that's all I'll say on that for now.

But I'm not stopping there. I've got a new series, I'm an Editor now, but there were still a few free hours left in the day. So I became a Junkie. That's right, I'll be doing a new monthly column for the Inveterate Media Junkies called...

There are a few other little things I've got in the works. But there's time for that still. So for now I'll just leave you with all this.

Now I've been doing this blog since about 2008 and it wasn't until just yesterday that something occurred to me. While I've always done my best to keep everyone up to date about the books I'm working on, when they'll be released, where they can pick them up, ect. I've never made it a regular part of the layout.

There was never a dedicated spot on my blog that people could click and pick up a copy of one of my books. Sure there were links within posts, but as is the case with a blog, those got lost in the shuffle of each new announcement.

So to remedy this I've finally added a spot over on the right navigation where you can go to purchase my books. There's Brian & Bobbi, the special preview comic of GCD, and a general link that'll take you to all the writing and editing work I did back during my time with Twofold Comics.

And for the more tech savvy of you, I've also added a few QR codes to let you download digital copies of my stuff onto your tablet devices. Sure I'm stealing this from fellow 215 Ink creator David Pinckney, but I don't care cause it's a great idea and now that I've recently upgraded to a full on smartphone, I'm kinda in love with QR Codes.

I posted this over at the GCD Music Blog but I thought it was worth including over here as well.

So this past weekend I got to pick up my copies of GCD "The Demo" from the guys over at 215 Ink and I can't even believe how great they came out looking. Not only does Fernando's artwork look downright amazing in print, but 215 Ink really pulled out all the stops in helping us accomplish what we wanted to do with this book.

So what did we want to do with this book? Good question.

Just as the title and the cover suggests this is a demo. Like any band we've been laying track upon track, spending hours tweeking and rerecording in whatever room gets you the best acoustics. We know that eventually we'll get picked up by a label and be able to redo these songs in a huge studio. They'll sound polished and professional by the time the album is released, but in the meantime we're going to throw all our passion and heart into these recordings. And then, when they're done, we're gonna use that crappy old duel-deck tape recorder we have lying around and make as many copies as we can to sell at shows for $2.99.

That was what we were going for with "The Demo". And not only did 215 Ink get that, but they managed to execute it perfectly.

Just like any demo this isn't about the fine tuning, it's about the music, the art. We left some typos in the lettering, and there are even a few little spots where the grayscale isn't 100% finished. But the love of the music is there... Or in this case the love of the comic. You can see it in each page, just like you can hear it in every note of a well crafted demo.

And don't ask me how, but they even managed to throw a little static into a few pages so it actually looks like you're reading a worn out old cassette. Playing that spot in your favorite song you've heard so many times the tape's about to snap.

This is your introduction to the world of G.C.D. as raw and as real as you'll ever see it. A late night jam session, a fury of words and art and paper and ink. Shaking the windows, it'll have your neighbors banging on the walls and yelling for you to turn it down.

So to quote the inside cover:

Pat yourself on the back and get reading because by buying this book you've earned the right to brag to all your friends that you knew what GCD was way before it sold out and went mainstream.

It's official, Brian & Bobbi is out in stores. Here a shot of it nestled right between Artifacts and Charmed. This picture was taken over at Wade's Comic Madness in Levittown, PA when I stopped by this afternoon.

By the time I left the shop they'd sold out of the copies they had, and apparently they're not the only shop where that's happened. I've gotten word there are a few out there who have already had to put in reorders. So if anyone's considering getting a copy, make sure you do it soon. Or if they don't have it there's still time to order one using the Diamond Code DEC101071.

And, as a great way to kick off Brian & Bobbi's release, the book has been getting some great coverage online. It made it onto IGN's Weekly Comic Buyer's Guide, it was one of the highlights this week over at Treasure Island Comics, a Pick of the Week over at Tastes Like Comics, and Brian & Bobbi got a very flattering comparison over at Inveterate Media Junkies.

So I don't know about you, but I think that's a pretty productive opening day. And now that the book's been released, it's time to start the convention tour!

So What's Next?

Now that Brian & Bobbi is just a few short days away from comic shops, a lot of attention has been drawn to what my next project will be. I've talked about it a little on Facebook and Twitter, but I figured it's about time I officially announced it here on the site.

My next project is going to be a series of graphic novellas called G.C.D. Each book will be about 64 pages, and we're shooting to possibly release a new volume three or four times starting either later in the year or in early 2012.

So what is G.C.D. It's an action packed, music infused, roadtrip adventure series.

I'm not saying much more than that at this point, but I will show you this.

It's the cover of a special edition GCD preview comic 215 Ink has printed for me to bring with me to conventions. So while the launch of the series may be a little ways off, you'll be able to check out an exclusive first look at the series at any of the conventions I'll be attending.

So after what feels like years of hard work, Brian & Bobbi will officially be in stores this Wednesday, March 16th. Mark your calendar. And for those of you heading out to the comic shop, make sure you pick up a copy. Word on the street is it's gonna be selling out quick, so make sure you grab it while you can. In case you couldn't tell from from all the nicely stacked copies of Brian & Bobbi, we're getting closer and closer to its release. Only a few short weeks till these very books will be gracing the shelves of your local comic shop. And in the meantime, we're not wasting any time in kicking things off right. This Sunday I'll be sitting in at the 215 Ink table signing copies of Brian & Bobbi at the Philadelphia Comic Con. We'll have a bunch of cool Brian & Bobbi related stuff and ton of other great books available as well. So if you're in the area, be sure to stop by and check it out.

From there my convention schedule is only picking up steam. I've added a couple more dates to what I've already posted, and have even more in the works. So far you'll be able to find me at:

The orders for Brian & Bobbi are in and I'd like to thank everyone who pre-ordered the book. The book will be hitting shelves Feb 23rd, so be sure to keep an eye out for it. For those of you who didn't get a chance to reserve a copy at their local comic shop, you can still pre-order it from the 215 Ink website. Just click on the cover and it'll take you right to the site.

This is actually a great idea because your copy will be shipping early and probably arrive before the book even hits shelves.

Some Things Worth Sharing

So the month of December is soon coming to a close, and so too is pre-order time for Brian & Bobbi. In these last couple of days, I thought I'd share some exciting stuff worth mentioning. Here we go.

First up, the Brian & Bobbi Trailer.

Featuring the song Superboy & Supergirl by Tullycraft. We put this together to give people a little sneak peek at the book. Feel free to give it a watch.

Next, Brian & Bobbi is trending higher than Family Guy on Google. And I think that's a pretty big deal seeing as how, at least in my opinion, Brian & Stewie are the two most interesting characters on the show.

Brian & Bobbi also got another special nod from Diamond. They've already made Brian & Bobbi one of the Spotlight Features for the month, but now it's also on their list of Graphic Novels for young adults age 13 and up. So all you family friendly comic shops out there, be sure to take notice. Brian & Bobbi's a great book for your younger readers, Diamond says so.

The book also got recognized by Examiner.com in their Guide to the February Previews Catalog. It was one of only nine indie titles picked this month.

And we've got some new reviews for Brian & Bobbi. We have our second review from the guys over at Coverless. Then there's this one, a really great review from Black Snake Studios, and this one from Young Adult Books Central. It only reaffirms Diamond picking the book as one of the graphic novels for young adults.

So in these last few days, I think a rush is in order. Everyone should head out to their local comic shop and pre-order their copy of Brian & Bobbi. The special edition that was printed for Steel City sold out in record time, and my publisher is anticipating the same thing will happen once the books hit shelves. That means the only way you can be sure you'll have your copy this February is to pre-order it now.

And while I know there are some of you without local comic shops out there, don't worry. There are tons of places online where you can pre-order the book (And get a great deal on it). Here are just a few.

And the Momentum Builds

Now I've held off on posting any news over the past few weeks because it seemed like if I waited a little while I'd have a nice list of stuff worth sharing. I figured by the time I sat down to write a new post I'd have four or five really cool announcements to make. But here I am, still full from Thanksgiving dinner, exhausted from a day of Black Friday shopping, and way more than just a couple announcements to make.

So let's get right down to it then, shall we?

First up, the biggest news of all. Brian & Bobbi got accepted into Diamond. This actually happened a few months back, and I've mentioned it a little here and there. But I say it officially now because not only has the book made it into Diamond, but it's in this month's issue of Previews. Here's a shot of it on page 302. Notice it's a Spotlight Feature for this month. I was just happy to make it into the catalog, so this was a huge surprise. And I'd like to extend a HUGE thank you to whoever it was at Diamond who picked the book.

Being that the book is in this month's issue of Previews, that means it's available for pre-order at your local comic shop. I've already gotten word from a bunch of comic shops that they'll be carrying it, and we're adding more to the list every day. Your local comic book shop may already be ordering the book, but the only way to know for sure is to ask. And if they aren't the order code is DEC101071. Tell them to pick up a few copies.

For those of you who don't have the luxury of a local comic shop in your area, Brian & Bobbi is popping up on sites all over the net. Some of the even have some pretty great deals on it if you pre-order now.

I know I probably won't be able to list EVERY place that's carrying the book, but wouldn't it be nice if I could put together at least a somehwhat comprehensive list of places to get Brian & Bobbi. They've been so helpful and supportive of Brian & Bobbi so I just thought I'd take a second to encourage people to head over to their website and check out all the awesome stuff they've got going on.

In other news, Brian & Bobbi has expanded digitally. Things have been going so well over at Wowio that Brian & Bobbi got picked up by Graphic.ly as well. Now for those of you who aren't familiar with the site, they're definitely worth checking out. Not even just so you can download a copy of Brian & Bobbi, but because they've managed to put together a really great interface for digital comic reading. It actually makes it quite fun. And I say this as a strong supporter of all print medias.

Also I just wanted to take a quick second to reminder everyone that I'll be one of the featured creators at Steel City Comic Con, this coming weekend Dec. 3, 4, and 5. It's looking to be a great show and I'm very excited for it. We'll be premiering the special limited edition printing of Brian & Bobbi, which I saw just the other day and it looks amazing. I dare say I got a little misty eyed. On top of that, I'll be sharing the 215 Ink table with the creator of Jesus Hates Zombies and Massive Awesome Stephen Lindsay who will have a ton of great stuff available. AND if that wasn't enough, 215 Ink will be holding open submissions Saturday and Sunday. I was told that our publisher, Andrew DelQuadro, will be there in person with contracts in hand for anyone who can really impress him. So any writers, pencilers, inkers, colorists, letterers out there should definitely make a point to stop by and show us what you've got.

The New York Comic Con Wrap Up

Another New York Comic Con has come and gone, and this one was CRAZY. Well worth the sixteen month wait since last year's. The show itself was massive, almost to the point of being overwhelming. It seemed like every time I turned a corner there was a whole new wing of the convention I'd yet to explore. But I managed to navigate the convention pretty well and I'm back home safely. So here are some of the highlights.

Now with Brian & Bobbi coming out in a couple months, I had planned on mostly spending my time promoting the book, networking, the usual business stuff. I sat in on some panels and I have to say that by the end of the convention, I'm even more excited about Brian & Bobbi's upcoming release. It was pretty crazy though. I think I met so many people at the convention this year that I was out of business cards by Saturday morning.

Luckily though, they were due for an update anyway, so I threw this together last night.

I even had some time to enjoy the convention just as a fan though, which was nice since it'll probably be one of the last conventions where I'm able to do that.

I got to meet some folks whose work I've always been a fan of, picked up a bunch f books I couldn't find anywhere, including Phonogram vol. 2 which after searching for since its release, I bought directly from James McKelvie and Keiron Gillen. Just a tip to fans out there, if given the chance to buy a book from a retailer or the creators themselves, buy it from the creator. It's well worth it.

And on top of the two tote bags full of free stuff, I also picked up what is sure to become one of my new favorite t-shirts from the guys who do Atomic Robo, Scott Wegener and Brian Clevinger.

But anyway, the gushing over the con aside, there were a few other little things I couldn't announce till after the convention. So here they are.

-In my last post I said I'd be attending Steel City Con in December and that wasn't entirely accurate. Fact is, I'll be one of the featured guests at the convention! I'll be at the 215 Ink booth with Stephen Lindsay of Jesus Hates Zombies Massive Awesome. So make sure you stop by to check out all the cool stuff we've got going on.

-Last time I also mentioned that I'd have special limited edition copies of Brian & Bobbi for sale at the show, but there's more than that. We'll will also have some other really great stuff that you'll just have to see for yourself. I can't say too much about it yet, but I will say that the show is two months away, and already it's looking like it's going to be one to remember.

-And the last little bit of exciting news, for those of you who have managed to make it this far down the post, I've got a new webcomic in the works. I'm teaming up with artist Cristo Camba (who you may remember from my short story The Reunion which was published in If-X vol 2 #4) to do a slice of life webcomic called 14-B. We're still in the early stages of its development, but we've got the website up and running with its own dedicated domain (and that's how you know it's legit) http://www.14-b.com. Feel free to check it out though, I put the site together myself (a first for me) and we've got some samples of the artwork up there. Plus we'll be posting more as it gets closer to the launch date.

The Pre-New York Comic Con Round Up

New York Comic Con is just a few days away, so I thought I'd take a second to let everyone know about all the exciting stuff coming up. Here are the bullet points.

-I will be at New York Comic Con. I've got my professional pass and I'll be walking the floor on Friday and Saturday. If you see me, feel free to come up and say hi. There are a few people I have to meet with at the show, but if there's anyone else who wants to talk with me about Brian & Bobbi that I haven't already made arrangements with, feel free to email me at amwilson81@yahoo.com and we can set something up.

-The guys at 215 Ink have been lining up dates for a small book tour in the coming months. We'll have the exact times, dates, and locations soon. But I figured I'd let you know there is still room in the schedule if anyone wants their shop to added to the list. Again, just shoot me an email and we'll see if we can work something out (especially if you're in the New York/New Jersey/Pennsylvania area).

-We'll be doing a special limited edition version of Brian & Bobbi for the book tour. It'll be an exclusive only available at signings or directly through 215 Ink, so if you want a copy make sure you pick one up before they're gone.

-While I won't have a table at New York Comic Con, I just got word that I will be at the 215 Ink table for Steel City Con, coming up in December. More details on that to follow.

-Fernando and I are making some great progress on the new series, which I can now tell you is titled G.C.D. We're more than half way through the first issue and I'll do another post soon with some of my latest lettering screen shots.

-And probably the biggest news of all, BRIAN & BOBBI GOT ACCEPTED BY DIAMOND. It'll be in the December issue of Preview with issue 3 of 215 Ink's popular new series Massive Awesome by Stephen Lindsay (Issue 1 of which is on shelves now, and issue 2 is in this month's Previews). I'll keep you all posted on pre-order details, order numbers, and stuff like that, as soon as I know more.

So I'm back from Baltimore and I've got to say it's a great con. I'll keep this short cause let's be honest, cons are exhausting. I met a lot of cool creators (including fellow 215 Ink creator Stephen Lindsay), saw some old friends I wasn't expecting to run into, and even picked up some really cool stuff, like this brand new Jesus Hates Zombies t-shirts.

I can definitely see why they say Baltimore is one of the best conventions on the East Coast. So, it was reported today that Harvey Pekar, the creator of American Splendor, has passed away at the age of 70. To say it's a sad day would be a bit of an understatement, but it should be said regardless. Looking on Twitter this morning I found someone who commented that "Your [Pekar's] 'boring life' made mine more interesting" and I think that's a great summation of Harvey's legacy. He offered his readers an unabashed window into his life and in doing so gave a profound and beautiful significance to the seemingly monotinous moments we experience every day. His writing was such that it not only entertained but helped us to look at our own lives in a better way. Suddenly the importance of the things we often forget, the little tragidies and uncelebrated victories we encounter every day, became clearer and easier to see.

Simply put, some people make our lives better by giving us something great to experience, others by helping us to appreciate the experiences we already have. Harvey Pekar did both.

Now this is all stuff that I'm sure other people have said countless times before me but I feel it important that it be said again, or at least that I be the one to say it this time. You see, truth be told, I don't think I'd be the person I am today without Harvey's work. It was American Splendor that reintroduced me to comics. I was a fan growing up, but the older I got the more disillusioned I became. It wasn't until exposed to American Splendor as a college student that a whole new world was opened up to me and a whole new love for comics was born.

Sure I was late to the party, with American Splendor having been published for over two decades at this point, but the impact it had on my twenty year old self was none the less profound. Suddenly, what I thought to be only a nostalgic item from my past, was once again a medium that would shape the person I am. Through Harvey's work the limitless potential that comics offered was laid out at my feet and I knew it was the path I needed to follow. Inspired by Harvey I wrote and self published my first mini-comic a few months later, and the rest as they say is history.

I may never be the writer that Harvey was and I may never capture the honesty and beauty of life the way he did, but looking back on my life I can at least see the poetry of what American Splendor meant to me. In a seemingly insignificant moment I discovered a new book, a new writer, and it was in that insignificant moment something profound happened that changed the person I was.

Now for those of you paying attention, you may notice that the last one of this group kind of stands out a little bit. It's actually from a new project I'm helping out on. I'm actually doing a lot of lettering for other people right now. This particular screen shot is from the zero issue of Paranatural for Christopher Troy. Chris was the artist on the first issue of Manifest Destiny. He's now got his own series in the works, and I'm helping him out with some of the lettering. So be sure to keep your eyes out for that when it's released. And I'll keep you posted on the other lettering projects I've got lined up when I'm free to talk about them.

Dead Future is now available in print over at Indy Planet, and for those of you who need a little more convincing that it's worth picking up, check out these review for the comic.

First up is a review from Project Fanboy. You can read the whole review here, but here's the bit about my contribution to the issue.

My favorite story this time around has to be “Roadtrip to the End of the World.” Writer Adam Wilson made clever use of the short story format and delivered a punchy ending to a fun story. It can be rather difficult to give a full sense of resolution to such a short tale, but Wilson nailed it.

Next is a review from Shelf Abuse. Here's what they have to say about Roadtrip. From what I can tell it's a positive review. Or at least I'm gonna take it that way.

Finally, Adam Wilson and Michael Stewart take us on a Road Trip to the End of the World, a brief but amusing tale told from the perspective of the begrudging chauffeur to two generic zombie slaying superheroes.

And Mike Kay and I get a little shout out over at Robot 6's Indy Comic Book Week Rundown. It's not necessarily a review, but it's always nice to be acknowledged.

SpazDog Comics Hosts 27 Comic Creators For Indy Comic Book Week Signing

Every year comic book fans have the holiday blues. Due to the UPS holiday shipping schedule, comics get delayed. For the first time in recent history, new comic books won’t ship on the last week of the year. While some comic book shops threw their hands up in outrage, local comic book shop, SpazDog Comics, saw it as an opportunity to spotlight all of the local comic book creators who get lost in the shuffle the other 51 weeks of the year.

On December 30th from 11am to 5pm, they will be hosting an Indy Comic Book Week signing (http://www.indycomicbookweek.com). 27 comic book creators from all over Arizona will be signing and selling their latest comic book creations.

For Eric Esquivel and Dave Baker, it’s the first signing that they are doing for their new graphic novel, Horrible Little People outside their homebase of Tucson. They aren’t the only Tucson residents who are making the trip to participate in our Indy Comic Book Week Signing. Jonnie Allen, Ken Wright, Maggie Wright, Eric Schock and Taylor Garrity are all making the trip. Other Arizona out of town guests includes DC freelance artist Dave Beaty and Micah Stewart from Prescott. They are joined by 20 other Phoenix area comic book creators who want readers to set down Superman and Spider-man for a day and read one of their comics.

SpazDog Comics owner, Shawn Demumbrum, even got into the spirit of Indy Comic Book Week. One of my customer’s who is an artist asked me to take his idea and write a story said Shawn. The 8 page mini comic that he and artists, Ernie Najera and Derrick West, created will be available on December 30th. In addition to the local artist’s comic books, SpazDog Comics will have a huge assortment of independent comic books for sale from across the country and Canada created by participants in Indy Comic Book Week.

SpazDog Comics located at 21610 N. 35th Avenue on the southwest corner of 35th Avenue and Deer Valley Road near the junction of I-17 and Loop 101. SpazDog Comics will be open from 11am until 8pm! With creators appearing until 5pm.

Disney Buys Marvel

That's right. One of the biggest powerhouses in comics has just been bought out by one of the biggest companies in the world. I guess it was only a matter of time really. A few years back Warner Brothers bought DC Comics, now Disney has bought Marvel.

From what I've seen, initial reactions among comic book fans seems pretty negative. I'll spare my own personal thoughts on the situation (mostly because with this new turn of events I find myself short on words, thinking quite a bit about what this means for the state of the rest of the comic book community, the smaller press companies who already have a hard enough time competing with the Big 2). It took me a little while, but I just finished reading the entire Questionable Content archive (all 1435 comics). It's a great series and for the few of you out there who aren't reading it, I'd highly recommend it. And for those of you who are really adventurous, try something really fun and start at the very first comic and see how long it takes you to catch up to the latest one. It's a bit of a challenge because it's updated 5 days a week, but I managed to do it in about a week and a half (it's been a slow week at work). It's actually a lot of fun to do because you can see how much the artwork of the series has evolved over the 6 years it's been around.

So any suggestions as to what webcomic should be my next distraction from a lazy day at the office?

A Recap And Another Little Sneak Peak

Well, Wizard World Philly was great. I met a lot of really cool people, got to check out some exciting stuff that's going to be coming around the bend (I'll try to keep you posted on the stuff worth looking out for once I get a chance to go through it all), and I even splurged a bit and bought a t-shirt to support the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund. I'm not usually one for buying t-shirts that try to be funny or witty, but they had a James Kolchaka shirt that I just couldn't resist. Maybe I was a little biased because I'm a big fan of his work and because the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund is a really great organization. But still I felt the need to get myself one.

Now I just have to figure out which public settings this is appropriate for and I'll be all set.

In other news, Brian & Bobbi is making some really great progress. Chapter 1 is done, fully inked, lettered, and toned. That's right, toned. Just wait till you see how it turned out. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised with the new look for the story.

I just got my copy of Slam Bang Vol. 4 from the guys at Fanatic Press and there's some amazing stuff in here. And included in the book, in fact the very first story in the book is one of mine. It's a new story called "Wish You Were Here" and it's never been seen anywhere before. It's a personal favorite actually, one of the more personal stories I've written. You won't find it anywhere on the site and it's not in any other anthologies though. In fact, before its release in Slam Bang, only a handful of people had even read it. Shall we catch up?

Well, its been almost two months since I've last posted anything on here, which is probably the longest lapse in commitment I've ever had. Probably. A lot has happened in that time. So let's review.

-I got a new job. Two of them actually. Freelancing was fun while it lasted, but it had run its course and I missed being able afford things like comics, and going to the movies, and paying my rent. So I am now the Contributing Editor for Twofold Comics, handling their short story anthology series, Shrunken Wool, and the Advertising Assistant for the New Jersey Press Association. I'll let you guess which of the two is the more legitimate vocation and which one I just like doing.

- Twofold and I have developed a very symbiotic relationship in the past months. Since I'm their Editor, they're also now my publisher. The company didn't really plan on publishing anyhing other than Shrunken Wool. But since I came on board they've decided to publish Life (With Friends) when it's ready, and continue to publish Manifest Destiny, and another series I'm developing. They even helped me put together a new creative team to help Manifest Destiny come out on a more regular schedule. We're hoping for every other month.

-In terms of my comics. Brian & Bobbi is starting over from scratch. Becky had to back out for financial reasons, I tried to keep that from happening for as long as possible, but it eventually became too much. I've found a really amazing replacement artist for the book though, and we'll be starting work on it some time next month. Life (With Friends) is moving strong. We're holding off continuing it as a webcomic until we have more content done, but it'll be back soon enough.

-I'm also moving it to Drunk Duck for good. Updating so many different sites as often as I was became just too much, and to try and do that now with even more going on, just doesn't look likely. So I'll keep everyone posted on when Life (With Friends) is back online.

-And when Life (With Friends) comes back, I'll also start updating Manifest Destiny again as well. They'll both be on the same day, and both on Drunk Duck. So keep an eye out.

-To go back to that other comic I briefly mentioned, I'm working with a really talented artist, Joe Jarin, and we're just about done with the concept art. So production on that will hopefully start pretty soon.

-My work has also been showing up in a bunch of different anthologies here and there. He's the list of stuff that has come out recently and will be coming out pretty soon.

Shrunken Wool (I'm the Contributing Editor, so I'll pretty much have a story in every issue. Which is good cause it's a monthly series and that means you'll be seeing a lot of my stuff in print)
If-X #9 and 10 (#9 is available for pre-order now and #10 should be hitting shelves in either June or July)

-One of my Co-workers at the New Jersey Press Association just gave me something like a thousand comics because their boyfriend wanted to get rid of his collection. I'm still sorting through everything

-My girlfriend will be graduating with her Masters this May and might be teaching a college course on superheroes in the fall.

I know I haven't really mentioned much about Manifest Destiny, one of the series I said would be coming soon to the site, for quite some time. But that doesn't mean we haven't been hard at work on it. In fact, Chris and I are just about done with the first issue at this point.

And that means that come Monday of next week we're going to start posting pages online, and for those of you who don't have the patience to wait every week for another page to come out, it'll also be released in print some time in January, courtesy of Twofold Comics. So be on the lookout, because the cross country trek begins soon.

So my girlfriend was telling me that there's this big push to get rid of Power Point. They say that it's ineffective and unnecessary. Now I could have told you that after my first college lecture, but it's nice to see that people are finally catching up with me.

As a replacement for Power Point, MIT has created a new program called Scratch. It's supposedly a more interactive and indepth tool than Power Point. From what I can tell it's a combination of Power Point and Flash. They're even teaching it in some schools already, and as you can see from this video, the kids are making good use of it.

I talked with Mike the other day and it looks like Life (With Friends) is going to be launching in about a month. When it does launch I'm going to be featuring it over at Drunk Duck as well, just like Brian & Bobbi and the Life in a Splash Page Shorts. So to tide people over till that month wait is over, I'm gonna be showcasing the Life (With Friends) short that started the whole thing off, posting a page a week every Friday. It'll only be up there for a limited time, because once the series itself is launched I'll be moving the story to the Shorts section. But for now you can read it here.

Cursed... Again

It looks like my story, Cursed, is going to see print once more. It's going to be featured in the upcoming fifth issue of Krazy Bov Comics. It's going to be a while till the issue comes out, they're actually still accepting submissions at this point. But seeing as how they've been nice enough to feature two of my stories, I'll take any chance I can to mention them.

I found this over at the TopShelf Comics website. I'm a huge fan of the book, so I felt it vitally important that I post it. In my opinion it's one of Jeffrey Brown's best. Which is saying a lot cause his Girlfriend Trilogy is amazing. But still, the Incredible Change Bots is one of those books I can read over and over and still crack up at.

She's Much More Talented Than me

So last week my girlfriend did a reading of one of her stories, The Legend of Dave Bradley, at a nearby college, and she killed it. There were three other people who read with her and she was by far the star of the evening. I'm not even just saying that because I'm her boyfriend. I'm actually saying that because of the numerous audience members who almost fell out of their seats they were laughing so hard at.

Now unfortunately she wouldn't let me video tape the reading, so I can't post it for you guys to see, but I can do the next best thing. Sort of. Here's a link to the blog she recently started. She doesn't update that often, but it's quite entertaining and always worth the read.

All New T-Shirt

I don't know why, but I think this is a great line. I've actually been wanting to make it ever since I saw some kid wearing a shirt that said it on the cover of an Iron Man issue. I can't remember what the issue was (and if anyone knows, feel free to comment and let me know), but I just thouht it was a cool shirt. So after watching Iron Man again on DVD ( My girlfriend and I got the two disc special edition from Target that looks like the Iron Man helmet), and getting a replacement Exact-o knife. I made myself a "TONY STARK BUILT THIS IN A CAVE" t-shirt.

Next up I'm gonna keeping with the Iron Man motif and making a Stark Industries t-shirt for my girlfriend. I'll let you know how that one turns out.

I'm usually not one for comic book fan films. It seems that Youtube is full of more than it's fair share of fanboys donning their tights in front of a camera. But yesterday I came across a series on Comicspace that not only kept me watching all the way through, but actually left me looking forward to the next episode.
